FRED MICHIELS (°1966, works and lives in Sambreville) his lively colored works are vigorously painted with a flair of humor and self-reflexivity. Oil on canvas is alternated with different kinds of paint and supports. Overpainting and -printing are part of the process. There is no such thing as an ugly color or combination. They just are sincerely and full of pleasure.

JOHANNES ULRICH KUBIAK (°1961, works and lives in Antwerp and Berlin) his paintings are joyful dances of oil on canvas or pure watercolors on paper with a touch of gouache. Painting is to open a space of possibility. Part of the process is that the works lay flat. This omits the awareness of up and below. The underlying structure of a figuration, sometimes emerged by controlling the unpredictable, enables him to explore the act of painting for itself.
